About The Instructor

Lanre  Shonubi
a.k.a “The Radio god”

Lanre Shonubi is a Nigerian-born journalist, media personality, and music executive with a passion for storytelling, entertainment, and amplifying alternative African sounds.

He kickstarted his career while in college at Covenant University, where he worked at Hebron FM and interned at Inspiration FM.
He has since gone on to host a YouTube show at Tech City, produce the mid-day show on Hot Fm, and interview notable names in the music industry such as Tems, Yemi Alade, 6lack, 2Baba, Falz, Major League DJz, and Stonebwoy.

Currently, he works at BBC Radio 1xtra, where he uses his radio production know-how and impeccable ears for incredible music to conduct conversations with Idris Elba, Rema, and other notable names.
In addition to his work in the media industry, Lanre is a music executive who co-owns Unknown Management Co. and has spent time at Outer South label company, seeing to radio promotions, audience development, administration, and sync for Tim Lyre, Suté Iwar, and Ray the Boffin.

His work in music and the amplification of alternative African sounds has earned him recognition on various levels, including the Nigerian Teens Choice Awards.

Lanre is also a graduate of Birmingham City University, where he acquired a Master’s Degree in Media & Radio Production and finished top of his year. With a name that translates to "only wealth lies ahead," Lanre is committed to contributing his quota towards a happier world, using excellence as his vehicle.
